Arriving by train:

You will enter Venice at the Santa Lucia railway station.  Exit from the station and head for the rightmost vaporetto landing.  Watch for the sign "1 - Lido".  That's your boat.

Arriving by car:

Cars enter Venice from the mainland town of Mestre, across a connecting bridge.  At the end of the bridge, all cars must be parked in a large parking facility at Piazzale Rome.  No cars can enter Venice, as there are no roads.  All traffic moves on canals and pedestrian streets and alleys.  After parking your car, head for the vaporetto stop marked “1 – Lido”.  Piazzale Roma is the last stop and turnaround on the line.

Vaporetto Line No. 1 makes all stops along the Canale Grande between Piazzale (Ple.) Roma and Lido island.  Get off the boat at the stop "Cā Rezzonico".  Line No. 1 is the only vaporetto which stops at "Cā Rezzonico".

Afer getting off at this stop, turn right into the little alleyway called "Calle del Traghetto" and proceed approx. 100 yards.  Almost exactly opposite the lantern marked “Hotel San Barnaba” you will see an entrance with four numbers, incl. 2801.  Open the door with the red key.  Our "Alcova" is on the left hand side at the far end of the open "hallway" (use the green key).  The actual end consists of a door leading out onto the canal "Rio San Barnaba", where you can arrive by boat.

Vaporetti are not cheap.  A 90 minute ticket costs Euro 5.00.  More reasonable is the Day-Ticket for Euro 10.50 or the 3 Day ticket for Euro 22.00.  For extended stays, please inquire about the monthly ticket.  The above tickets are valid on all boats and buses around Venice and the Lido islands.  Tickets can be bought at booths or automated machines near the landings or right on board from the conductor.  Approach the conductor immediately since being caught riding without a ticket results in a fine of Euro 30.00.  Vaporetti run approx. every 10 minutes.  Schedules are posted at the landings.
